Case Study Situational and Social Crime Prevention Techniques

Question: Explain how both situational and social crime prevention techniques are used within the UK (using referenced examples), and how the different agencies within the Community Safety Partnerships have helped to facilitate such projects? Answer: Community safety is the matter of concern for every responsible citizen of the country. People should understand the actual meaning of prevention of the social crime. The ensamples and the methods of the social crime prevention will help in providing the desired idea related to the safety of the community concerned. The situational crime prevention merely relies on the premise that the crime is opportunistic, and it focuses on modifying the different contextual factors for limiting the desired opportunities by engaging in criminal behaviors(Darke, 2011). It helps in controlling the crime with the help of practical measures. On the other hand, it concentrates in bringing out the desired change in the physical environment. There are several theories helps in highlighting the desired effects of the social crime. It is evident to know that there are many communities that are facing and experiencing more crimes. There are some which include spiral of the declination, social disorganizatio n, proportion of the renters. The spiral declination reflects the multiple as well as overlapping of the different social problems. So there is a crucial need for the prevention of people from the different types of the social crimes. The youth is significantly affected by these crimes. It is very important for the people to bring out the desired approach which helps in bringing out the desired change in the criminal activities that occurs within the environment. The situation crime prevention involves the active participation of the surroundings or the environment(Fagan and Eisenberg, 2012). Therefore to bring out the desired safety measures for the concerned community it becomes very important to understand the two of the important techniques, which are the situation and the social crime techniques? It is a matter of fact that the situation crime prevention, as well as the social crime techniques, are merely used for preventing the crime within the UK, and there are different comm unities which have significantly helped to get rid of these projects. The below-mentioned paragraph will help in analyzing the desired aspects of the crime prevention by these agencies on different types of the projects. On the other hand, there are ten principles described as for the crime prevention, these are the hardening of the desired target, removal of the target, reduction in the payoff, accesses control, surveillance, environmental design, Increasing the chances of being caught, deflecting the offenders and setting up of the rules. The target hardening helps in reducing the criminal activities those occurs from the surroundings. The next step is to remove the desired target from the concerned equation. Removal of the means for committing the crime is important, and this needs to be understood. It is important to stop the offender by physically. This can be done by disabling the concerned ports on the respective computers(Xhina, 2015). Next is the removing of the ladders or the concerned tools. Finally, it is needed to securing the aggregate loosely. Furthermore, if the concerned property is traceable, then it needs to be reduced. This can be done by marking the property, disrupting the marke ts and having checks on the buyers. Next is accessing the control, by which it needs to be harder for gaining access to the concerned area. This can be done in three different ways such as ticket barriers, gates and the electronic and biometric entry. For getting rid of the respective crimes, it is important to understand as well as execute the surveillance step. It has been found that the area if found to be viewed then the offenders will try the natural or the formal(Carl, 2011). The natural consists of lighting and the low hedges whereas the formal consists of CCTV having the neighborhood watch. The environmental design helps in managing the crime, and this can be done by re-designing the desired area as this will help in preventing the unwanted behavior of the people concerned. The redesigning of the environment helps in prevents the irrelevant behavior of the different types of the people within the community, and the first basic step is to remove the desired seat. Next is to a dd the dog bins which will help in reducing the desired effects of the criminal activities within the concerned community. Finally, the youth shelter is used to get rid of the criminal activities within the particular area. Increasing the chances of being caught and the offenders try very less in case the risks are high. These risks include the dogs, alarms, CCTV and the security guards. These plays the most important role in evaluating the desired facts related to the prevention of the situation crime. Therefore, to maintain complete safety for the people, it becomes very important for the people to use these safety measures and these are helpful in marinating the safe environment around d the people concerned. Moreover, there are deflecting an offender who needs to be understood properly. It is a matter of fact that there is less crime if the people get attached to the different types of the activities(Crime Prevention, 2009). Moreover, getting engaged in the different types of th e activities will help in reducing the social crime as well as the situation crimes to some extent. Furthermore, the rule stating helps in evaluating the desired fact that the clear statements reflecting the actual meaning of the rules will; help in making people understand what is needed from them. This will also help in reflecting the state of mind of the different people(Fagan and Eisenberg, 2012). These rules include the no smoking, no trespassing, the desired legal requirements and the consequences. These will make people understand what actually is needed. Moreover, the situation crime prevention throughout the UK is important and this depends on the desired structure of the different houses of the people(Hart and Ksir, 2011). Windows, locks, and shrubs are important and they needed to keep as the desired standard as they will help in reducing the crime and keeping the people safe. The shrubs need to keep low as it should not block the concerned points for concealing a possibl e attacker. The locks of the door should be strong enough so that the attackers or thieves cannot break them. Moreover, the lock should be strong to offer tight high security to the people living in the home. There are risk factors for the social crimes, mainly to the younger people. These relate to the gender from which the people belong, personality as well as the behavioral factors, family influences and the living conditions of the people. Mostly, it is seen that the poor housing conditions of the people are responsible for making people as a criminal and these people are then exposed to the social crimes. Therefore, it becomes very important to formulate best strategies for reducing the crimes social as well as the situational crimes. The broken window theory highlights different causes for the occurrence of the social crimes within the concerned community. Strengthening the families, strengthening the parental supervision, schools, reduction in the truancy and the exclusions and partnershi p between family and school help in reducing the social crimes(Hess, Orthmann, and Cho, 2014). There are different agencies which help in facilitating these projects. These communities follow the prevention lists mentioned alcove. Different agencies put major efforts in understanding the desired needs and the requirements of the people related to their personal life. The crisis is found to be the major cause for the occurrence of the criminal activities within the community. Therefore, these agencies aimto provide the required facilities to the people(Nye, 2014). This has reduced the criminal activities to a great extent. The dog bins are mainly used for the desoireed disposal of the dog faeces from thew different parks or from different types of the streets. Ion case, if there are no nsuch ofg the dog binds available then it must be taken from the different of the people concerned and disposed in a systematic and the noramal hygienic manner. It is tyhe key responsibility of a dog oqwner to clean out the desired messes of his or her concerned dog within the public places. Therefore, it becomes very important for the people or the owners of the dog to maintain proper peace and safety within the respective enviroment. Dogs are considered to be very impotent for reducing the criminal activities all across the community and this creates a great impcat aon the community. The council of Watford borough has provided the desired dog bins in different parks as well as in open spaces and in these particular places these bins can be used as the simple litter bins and the respective wastes of the concerned dogs a re collected and disposed iin the same way Therefore, the disposal of the wastes of the different dogs contributes larger to the community or the society. Thus, it becomes very important to understand the desired requirements of the dog bins as it helps in maintaing the environment clean and greem for the citizens of the country. The situation crime preventions include the desired activities like improving the desired security with the help of strengthening locks and improving the surveillance(Tilley, 2011). There are nearly twenty-five of the situational crime prevention techniques which are divided into five broad categories such as increase efforts in offending, increased risks connected with offending, reduction ion the rewarding, reduction in the concerned situational factors and removing the desired excuses for the particular offending behavior(Wilson and Petersilia, 2011). There are certain issues that come within the prevention of the different situational crimes; these are the respective geographical displacement, temporal displacement, target displacement, tactical displacement, crime type displacement and the perpetrator displacement(Yaroshinska, Bertell, and Ehrle, 2011). On the other hand, there have been several criticisms for the prevention of the situational crimes. Some of the people say that it displaces the crimes, whereas there are some of the other people who fail to address the causes of the different crimes. Sometimes it may lead to blame the victim.
